Found yourself well into summer without any plans to keep stay entertained? The notion that the rest of these sweltering hot days (thanks to global warming) will be spent in utter boredom is enough to drive anyone crazy. Instead of being confined to your house as if summer break is a ten week jail sentence, make use of the following activities to ward away the blues:
Work out at Fitness 19
If you are looking for a clean and inexpensive place to work out that’s near home, try Fitness 19 on Fremont and Chapel. For only about $15 a month, it provides a friendly atmosphere and more variety than the average gym. The machines are clean and well spaced out, contributing to the ambiance of the place.
Go bowling at Cloverleaf Bowl
If bowling is your thing, Cloverleaf offers inexpensive lanes with good music and cheap food. If you drop in on Sunday, each game will only cost you $1.50, not including shoes. Don’t worry if you don’t roll strikes every time, gutter balls can be easily prevented with the use of rails. Bring your friends and family and take advantage of this superb deal.
Bay Street Coffee
Located on the corner of Fremont and Washington, be sure to visit this warmly decorated coffee shop. Open 24 hours a day, it has become a favorite hang-out spot for many in Fremont looking for a cozy place to relax. Featuring giant couches and comfortable chairs, don’t hesitate to drop by when you can’t think of anything to do at any hour of the night. In terms of the menu, they serve a wide variety of drinks and pastries at an extremely reasonable price. Their coffee is freshly grounded and they even offer drinks such as Green Tea or Fruit Freezes.
Concert at Central Park
For the musically inclined, be sure to attend one of the several concerts to be held at Central Park this summer. Returning this year for the first time since 2002, it now has enough funding to continue thanks to sponsorship by The Saddle Rack nightclub in Fremont. In previous years, it has attracted a wide variety of people ranging from small children to seniors.
Performance Schedule:
* 6/28: Appaloosa (Blues/Country)
* 7/12: The Switch (R&B)
* 7/26: Alameda All Stars (Classic Rock)
* 8/9: Patricia Rose (Jazz/Blues)
