You can still travel on a small budget and live large. Here’s how I have traveled to over 50 countries and 6 continents with no money in the bank.
1. Embrace a good cause and get family & friends to sponsor you.
Though starting your own IRS 501 C 3 can be problematic, it is possible. Nevertheless Americans are good hearted people that love to give to charitable causes. Therefore link up with reputable organizations who you can partner with to do good things. Both of you will be blessed.
2. Work part-time jobs until you are ready to travel.
I’ve done all types of crazy part time jobs to survive financially and live my dreams globally. While living in England for four months I worked the graveyard shift at a nursing home putting old ladies to bed (undressing and wiping their bum) and getting them groomed and ready to go upon rising in the morning.
At home I valet parked cars at the Emergency Room during the graveyard shift. I’ve worked at McDonalds, Dominoes, KFC - you name it! Whatever it takes to get a quick job that pays and won’t try to enslave you for life. Basically you need an employer who understand you have a life and won’t control your schedule.
While living in California and working at one restaurant in Orange County, I was given an opportunity to go to Hawaii to visit a friend and go surfing. The employer told me if I took a week off of work they would fire me. After giving it much thought and enduring the rebuke of a roommate, I went to Hawaii happily anyhow. When I got back the restaurant had gone out of business and didn’t tell any of the employees. True story! So I was vindicated and lived my dreams! Not to mention I got a better job at a more friendly restaurant around the corner not long after I got home.
Jobs are replaceable, but not opportunities to travel and see the world.
3. Do your homework before you leave and get the best deals.
4. Make friends over the internet so you have free places to stay when you arrive.
5. Become an air courier to reduce flight expenses to next to nothing.
6. Become an expert on something and get someone in your field to pay your way to get there.
7. Combine business with pleasure so your company can pay your way.
8. Start an import / export company for goods from a region you particularly like to travel.
9. Be a travel agent and get great deals as you promote destinations and the hospitality industry.
10. Once you become knowledgeable about travel, write some articles and do a documentary.
