You work and save all year for that one or two week unique vacation. A vacation that should leave you with many fond memories and maybe even a few souvenirs to serve as mementos of your special trip. But, you are on a strict budget and find it more and more difficult to plan that dream vacation.

After all, you don’t want to visit southern parts of the country in the summer, or northern parts in the winter or beachfront areas during hurricane season. By booking in the off-season, you will avoid the larger crowds, traffic congestion, and long lines everywhere you go.

- If you travel with several of your friends and family, you might get a discount on group travel. Each vacation type will have different requirements for group travel so be sure to check on the number of traveling companions needed to benefit from the discount. If you belong to organizations such as AAA or AARP you may receive further discounts by joining with a group of fellow members who are interested in going to the same destination you are going to.

- Last minute travel opportunities can sometimes afford you some terrific discounts. If you are a retiree or if you have a flexible schedule, you might want to consider booking your trip on a cruise or at a hotel that is desperately trying to fill those empty rooms. They offer great discounts to those who are willing to book last minute, so that they can save on revenue that would have been lost.

- Package deals are also a great way to save. There are many travel agencies that offer enormous savings if you plan your trip with a group of travelers heading for the same destination for their vacation. These types of packages may be all inclusive, offering airfare, hotels, excursions, and transportation at greatly reduced rates. You won’t have to worry about a thing, the trip will be planned for you and most reputable travel agencies choose the best of the best for you.

A limited budget does not have to prevent you from going on that well-deserved vacation. There are a variety of savings offered if you just take the time to do a little planning for yourself and seek out the multitude of discounts available for the budget minded traveler.
